Good Samaritan Family Resource Center, Inc.
Good Samaritan believes all families and children deserve the opportunity to succeed
Founded by our diocese in 1894, Good Samaritan supports vulnerable families in accessing needed services, developing self-sufficiency, and fully participating in the San Francisco community. Every day, Good Samaritan helps low-income families gain the skills, support, and resources necessary to overcome the challenges of poverty and displacement, so we can work together to improve the world we share. When every family thrives, our entire community becomes stronger.
In 2024, GoodSamaritan assisted 3606 clients and 3240 households, building better lives for 2349 adults, 747 youth, and 397 children. Initially serving immigrants from Europe, Good Samaritan later focused on supporting those fleeing political and economic turmoil, including Latin American immigrants and Indigenous Americans.
“Joining GoodSamaritan has been a full-circle journey for me. When I was six years old in the late ‘60s, my Salvadoran mother relied on the food pantry to help provide for our family. Now, as part of GoodSamaritan, I have the privilege of giving back to the community that once supported us.” – Mario Paz, Executive Director
