Cal Canterbury

College Chaplaincy Supported by the Diocese of California.

Berkeley is a storied place of great beauty and compelling history, yet it is more than in the 60s and music from the campanile. Students today live a much more stressful life. Political pressures impact grad student research and undergraduates face an uncertain future. The Episcopal Church is needed more than ever. Cal Canterbury, a diocesan institution, is here to meet these needs.

Each year engage students in compelling conversations, provide worship reflective of our venerable tradition and our diverse reality, and simply offer retreat from modern stress.

Activities include:

  • Interfaith Dialogue Dinners
  • Evensong, Compline, Taizé, and Candlemas Blessing
  • Christmas Light Train
  • Ashes to Go on Campus
  • Welcoming guest speakers
  • Study Hall during Exam Time
  • Weekly Bible Study
  • Online Book Studies on the Season of Creation and during Lent

In all these things we help give students peace and meaning while creating leaders in the church. Your campus ministries are essential in these times, living out the motto of Berkeley: Let there be Light!
