Ecumenical House (EcHouse) is a progressive Christian ministry of the diocese serving the San Francisco State University community. After a three-year hiatus, EcHouse reopened its doors this past spring—and had an immediate impact. Our “Free Coffee and Sandwiches” Tuesdays quickly became a stop for students, staff, faculty, service workers, neighbors and passersby. Folks from all walks of life stopped, grateful for the kindness of a simple sandwich. 
 
Thanks to the support of two dedicated Episcopal lay members, the Episcopal Impact Fund team, and three Episcopal churches who volunteered or lent coffee equipment, we served over 80 guests each week!

This coming Fall, we are excited to continue our “Free Coffee and Sandwiches” Tuesdays. Our goal will be to grow the ministry in the Spring to include a “Free Study Cafe” on Wednesdays, as well as Spiritual Care and Christian Fellowship to interested students.

  • Volunteer – serve coffee, sandwiches and kindness.
  • Sponsor! – $350-$500 to serve 85+ people
  • Donate – Baked goods, fruits, and snacks are encouraged
