Episcopal Diocese of California Annual Administrative & Financial Review

The Canons of the General Convention (Title I Canon 7 Section F) require that an annual financial audit of congregations of the diocese be completed. Our diocese is fulfilling this requirement through this Annual Administrative & Financial Review.

The audit program is under the direction of its CFO, the Rev. Cn. Michele Racusin, CPA. There will be a team of auditors to review the documents. You can reach Michele at [email protected].

The deadline for completing this review is September 1 of each year. If your congregation would like to have prior year financials reviewed, you will complete the same questionnaire, indicating the year when prompted.

Our review is completed entirely online. The form consists of informational questions and document uploads. Gone are the days of stressful auditor visits/appointments. The congregation works on the questionnaire as time permits. It does not need to be completed in one sitting. Keep in mind that once you start filling in the questionnaire, entries are saved for 28 days. If you go beyond the 28 days, entries cannot be retrieved. Once you start, please be sure to save frequently. The program does not save automatically. The “save” button is on the very bottom right-hand corner.

After your first “save”, you will be provided a link so that you can reopen the questionnaire at a later time. If there are two people completing the document, you will need to use the same link to continue adding information.

Pro-tip: Once you open the document, print it. This will provide you with a hard copy of all of the questions and let you know which documents will be needed.

Parish congregations will be billed for the time incurred by the auditor. As there are no freeways to navigate or bridges to wait on, we anticipate that the costs will be minimal. The diocese will fully subsidize the costs for mission congregations.
