The First Sundays Organ Recital Series continues as we celebrate our landmark
E.M. Skinner symphonic organ in the transcendent space for which it was built in
1924. We are excited to welcome back esteemed San Francisco organist, pianist
and composer Angela Kraft Cross.
A graduate of Oberlin College/Conservatory of Music in 1980 with bachelor’s
degrees in Physics and Organ Performance, she then earned her Doctor of
Medicine degree at Loma Linda University. Her organ teachers have included
Louis Robilliard, Marie-Louise Langlais and William Porter and she has studied
composition with Pamela Decker. She was awarded the Associateship credential
of the American Guild of Organists in 2001 and has given over six hundred
concerts worldwide.
In addition to her musical career, Dr. Kraft Cross retired in 2011 having worked
22 years as an ophthalmic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente, and now volunteers
as an ophthalmologist at Samaritan House. She deeply enjoys teaching young
organists. Dr. Kraft Cross is the founding director of the San Francisco Peninsula
Organ Academy, a nonprofit formed in 2014 supporting young concert organists
with scholarships on short intensive overseas study trips. She is a member of
Concert Artist Cooperative III.
This concert will feature works by Maurice Durufl?, C?sar Franck’s Pi?ce
H?roique and original works by Dr. Kraft Cross.
