Happening 25 for Youth

HAPPENING XXV

April 18-20, 2008

Marin Headlands Institute

The Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries of the Diocese of California sponsors this weekend retreat for youth in grades 9 -12, who want to discover more about Christianity. It is an active weekend, filled with music, discussion, creative worship, and quiet times. It is designed for, and run by, young people. It is a weekend during which young people speak from their own experiences, informed by the traditions of the Episcopal Church.

The emphasis is on practical Christianity: What does it mean to be a teenager and a Christian in today's world?

Register:

You will need to download a medical authorization form / bus permission slip.

Please mail it with a check for $150.00 to:

Youth Ministries

The Episcopal Diocese of California
1055 Taylor Street
San Francisco, CA 94108

Applications and payment in full must be received by April 1st, 2008.

Checks can be made out to the Episcopal Diocese of California. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Scholarships are available upon request.

Things are going to be different this year!!

First off, we will be staying at the Marin Headlands Institute in Sausalito instead of staying at a congregation. Yes, this means beds and showers for everyone!!! Whoo hoo!! We will be loading up the Happeners on a bus in SF at 5:30 and then taking everyone up to the Headlands Institute on Friday night. Parents will pick up their Happeners at the Headlands Institute on Sunday afternoon after the 4:00 Closing Eucharist.

Music! We will also be rockin’ out with master musician Sam Hensley from the Diocese of Washington, D.C. Check Sam out at samhensley.org. Bring your instruments and skills – we predict a monster jam! Sam will be heading up a Music Team ...if you are interested in being on the team and have attended Happening before, please follow the directions for applying to be on staff.

Staff! To be eligible to staff Happening XXV, you must have attended at least one previous Happening. Please fill out the staff application even if you have already talked to Susan Peek or another member of the Core Staff. You can download the staff application form and the letter to staff.

If you have more questions or concerns please contact Susan Peek at 415.869.7817 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
